Atlanta
We will spend 2 Nights in Atlanta
Atlanta is the capital of the U.S. state of Georgia. It played an important part in both the Civil War and the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. Atlanta History Center chronicles the city’s past, and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site is dedicated to the African-American leader’s life and times. Downtown, Centennial Olympic Park, built for the 1996 Olympics, encompasses the massive Georgia Aquarium
Orange Beach
We will spend 4 nights in Orange Beach
. It’s known as a water sports hub. Located on Wolf Bay, Waterfront Park has a fishing pier and picnic areas. The Orange Beach Indian & Sea Museum explores Native American and fishing history. To the west, The Wharf is a shopping area with an amphitheater. The Backcountry Trail winds from the city through Gulf State Park’s beaches in the nearby city of Gulf Shores
Mobile
We will be spending 1 night in Mobile
Mobile is a port city on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. The WWII-era USS Alabama battleship is anchored in Battleship Memorial Park. Floats, costumes and photos at the Mobile Carnival Museum illuminate the city’s centuries-old Mardi Gras tradition. The 1850 Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception features intricate German stained glass
New Orleans
We Will Spend 3 Nights in New Orleans
New Orleans is a Louisiana city on the Mississippi River, near the Gulf of Mexico. Nicknamed the “Big Easy,” it’s known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, singular cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. Embodying its festive spirit is Mardi Gras, the late-winter carnival famed for raucous costumed parades and street parties
Itinerary
After checking into our Atlanta hotel meet your guide and fellow travellers in the bar for an informal welcome meeting.
This morning, after breakfast, our coach leaves for downtown Atlanta and the World of Coca- Cola! After lunch we will make our way to Stone Mountain Park. Then, after a bit of R&R at the hotel, we will go out to enjoy an evening meal and some music!
After breakfast, as we travel though sleepy Alabama, our first stop is Montgomery. Here we’ll visit the Hank Williams Museum & Grave site and have lunch before travelling to our next stop – Orange Beach, Alabama. After checking out our hotel and beach surroundings it is time to go out for an Evening Meal & entertainment.
Enjoy yourself today on the beautiful white sands or lazing by the pool at the hotel. You’ll have the whole day to explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
Enjoy another day sunning yourself on Alabama’s Gulf Coast. This evening we will take you out to the wonderful Pink Pony Pub for music and cocktails.
On our last day on the beach you can choose to relax by the pool, explore Orange Beach further or perhaps go on a Dolphin Cruise. Tonight we will travel the short distance to the Florabama Roadhouse – the biggest surviving roadhouse in the USA – which straddles the state line between Alabama and Florida.
After Breakfast we will travel further along the beautiful gulf coast to Mobile, Alabama where our first stop is Battleship Park. We’ll hop aboard the USS Alabama warship and explore the grounds of the park where you’ll see memorials, aircraft, tanks & artillery and not forgetting the USS Drum – the oldest American Submarine on display! Then, after lunch, on a guided tour of Mobile’s Carnival Museum the rich and colourful history of Mardi Gras is brought to life. After relaxing for a couple of hours at our hotel it will be time to explore the nightlife In Mobile.
After breakfast it’s time to make our way to “The Big Easy” As soon as you’re checked in to our NOLA Hotel, you’ll be free to explore New Orleans. With your power pass you have free admissions to over 25 different attractions, including ghost tours, swamp tours, museum visits and even a Mississippi Jazz Cruise! This evening why not explore the French Quarter, go to the casino or take a tram into the city.
Today, as you continue to explore New Orleans at your own pace, you must try Coffee and Beignet at Cafe du Monde.
It’s your final day in New Orleans, make sure you have seen everything that you want to. This evening, we will all meet up for a GALA dinner and music as tomorrow we must say a fond farewell to Crescent City …and your new found friends.
It’s hard to believe, but today is the day we need to travel to the airport for your onward flight… or maybe you have decided to extend your stay by taking a cruise from the Port of New Orleans or adding on more stops on Travelling Time’s Boogie Bus!
